Our Week

This week has been... exhausting, tiring, and painful!
My poor little Norah has had her first "major" illness. Not fun!

It started Monday with her waking up and feeling very hot! I took her temp and it was 102.9. Great.
I gave her some Motrin and waited for the doctor to open.
In the mean time, Mckenna ate breakfast and promptly vomited all over the floor. Yep, it gets better!

Although I kept Mckenna home from school Monday, it turns out the sickness was a fluke and she was bouncing off the walls and her normal self rather quickly! Thank goodness!

Norah on the other hand, was not well. Tired. Fussy. Cranky. I didn't blame the poor thing.
We were at the doctor at 1pm. They put my baby thru way too many tests.... blood, urine (catheter), and a nasal swab flu test. Everything was negative.

We were back at the doctor Tuesday. Her fever was still at 102.7.
Virus.
Her fever finally broke Wednesday afternoon. It's been down since, but she is definitly not better yet.
The girl slept 5 hours between 6am-6pm. Yes 5! I am usually lucky if she takes two 40 minute naps!

My sweet babies last night.

It's been a long week at home with my babies!

Mckenna was sporting her "Team Jake" shirt!!
She asked to wear it to her cousin Jake's party on Saturday!

This picture is from Sunday. On the way to church I treated Mckenna to a donut.
I guess we know which part is her favorite!!!

Trip to the Doctor

Some cute and funny pics from our trip to the doctor today... we saw a doctor who takes FOREVER!!! Had to pass the time somehow!

13 months old

Mckenna Anne you are 13 months old today!

You poor thing, you have been sick all week. I thought you were on the mend, and even posted that yesterday, then at 8pm last night you wake up covered head to toe in a rash :( Back to the doctor today. Perhaps we've set a record with going 3 times in 4 day? That is a personal best for us, regardless!

Well, when you aren't dealing with a fever, ear infection and rash... you are one busy girl! You are full on walking and are starting climb and talk more. You still whine/scream for most things that you want, but you have started pointing more and will at least stand in front of things you want. We really want you to talk!! No more whining!

You have started saying, "Hot" and "duck" over the last week or so and are always screaming "DA" for Daddy. You always want him to be near and will call out when you want to see him... however you still want to be in Mommy's arms.

You are:

  • Wearing size 3 diapers - Target diapers run big, though, I think you will be moving to 4's soon.
  • Wearing some 18 month clothes, though they are really big. 12 month clothes fit better, but most of our fall stuff is 18 month
  • Wearing size 4 shoes. You will finally keep them on your feet and have learned the rule that shoes need to be on to walk outside.
  • You are sleeping through the night and are taking one good nap per day... though nothing like being sick to change it all around!
  • You love books and dolls... and balls! You LOVE to be outside and will cry and yell and whine at the door to get out! You are trying to even turn the doornobs! It's really funny because you really can't reach them!
  • You LOVE to crawl around our new section couch and then just stretch out and lay. Daddy loves this!
  • You are still eating really well, but have gotten a little devilish streak and will throw all your food when you are done with it.
  • You are completely off the bottle and have been since the first week back to school. You are finally drinking all of your milk each day from a straw cup!
We love you so much and are having fun watching you grow and learn!!

On the mend!

Mckenna is finally on the mend. After a long week (and it's only Wednesday!) she finally had a temp lower than 100 degrees today. She was also eating better and running around outside... much better!

Here are a couple of pictures I snapped of the poor thing yesterday when all I could get her to eat was a popsicle. They are cute, but you can see how miserable she was.

Catch Up Monday

I always seem to be playing catch up. The new story of my life. So here we are, catching up with the last few days.

Mckenna had a bit of a rough week last week... which sadly hasn't gotten any better. She has had a darn runny nose that just won't go away. It morphed into something more over the weekend and sure enough, she has another ear infection. Combine that with a high fever and the poor little thing is just beat.

On the upswing, we did have a good weekend before the little germies took over her on Sunday. On Friday night we headed to the Sox game for Half Way to Patrick's Day!
Last year we took her to the game as a 4 week old little peanut....

Before the game last year and then Friday at the game!

And then here she is all grown up on Friday night, enjoying the sights and sounds of the game!

Cheering and clapping with the crowd!

Checking out the action on the Jumbo-tron!She wasn't a big fan of White Sox Mickey

But is prepping to be a pitcher!

Mmmm! Ballpark food! Enjoying a hot pretzel!

She has done really well at the couple of games we have taken her to, however she is definately DONE by 9pm. Just in time for the 7th inning stretch... and out we go!

On Saturday we got to decorate the outside of the house for fall!! It turned out really good and I am excited to get moving on our inside decorations! Perhaps if I could stay awake late enough to have the time to do it... maybe next weekend!

On Sunday we enjoyed the Bears game over at Michelle's house, before the germies invade our little stinker. She was doing great playing with a little guy who was there, too, and then the game ended and she just hit a wall.

By the time we got home her fever was 104.1 - yes I was packing a bag for the hospital, fully expecting we would be ending up there for our night... I was talked off the ledge, though and the fever came down with the help of Motrin and a bath.... she is home with Daddy today and is now on some medication for her ears.

Are you ready for some FOOTBALL?!?!?

Ahhh Football Sunday in America!!! Yes, fall is here! We were all geared up for the game at our house!! Too bad we were just missing the extra person to take a picture of all of us geared up!!

We had one crabby girl on our hands for the first Sunday of football. She woke up with a really runny nose... like faucet nose :( We were expecting it since of the little girls at Auntie Sharon's was home with a cold on Friday.... but yuck! She then only napped for an hour, so she woke up like a crab and icky again! Therefore, I don't have any great pictures of her, which really bummed me out.

Apparently she knew the tissues were out because of her runny nose.... so that gives her permission to do what she wishes with them?!

Umm.. yeah mom I want to play with them!

Tissues are fun!

After we empty the box, we must eat them....

Can you guess what happened next.... ??

More riding...

No smiles for mommy

It took me at least 10 shots to get this one picture of her holding the ball! She kept throwing it before I could snap the pic!!

My 2 favorite people!!!

Milo actually sat still for some hugs!

She LOVES Milo

Group nap

Watch out Milo!

Mckenna the Milo Mauler!

Sick Baby Monday

Yes, we are ALWAYS sick in our house. This is getting really old. and exhausting.

We headed into the doctor this morning after battling the fever yesterday evening. It was still hovering around 101 degrees all morning, but I did get it down with Motrin. We got to see our doctor, which made me feel better. Her ears checked out fine, which was good, however there was then no explained reason for the fever.

Dr. suggested that there was potential for it to be being caused by a UTI, however in order to confirm this we would need to do a catheter to get an untainted urine sample. We decided to monitor the fever for 24 hours and then come back for the test if the fever went up, or came back. They did however do a blood test to check her White Blood Cell count... poor babes didn't know what to do with a band-aid on her finger! After the nurse put the band-aid on her, she told me not to let her put it in her mouth! HA! Fun times trying to keep her fingers out of her mouth!

After doing a bit of research, I was leaning towards just taking her back for the test, which he said we could do. Of course by the time we got home and attempted a nap, the fever was back up to 101.9, so I called and went straight back to the dr.

They did the cath in the office, but needed to send the sample out for testing. He also sent us for a chest X-ray, which ended up confirming a small case of pneumonia. Yikes! We will still be waiting the 48 hours for the urine test to come back, but are now treating the pneumonia with medication. She had been coughing last week, so it is assumed that the first round of antibiotics we were on Thursday through today minimized the impact of the pneumonia. This is all crazy, but according to the doctor, just due to the weather, time of year, and her body handling everything that has been thrown its way.

Despite it all, she really has been in a good mood. A little fussy and cranky, but overall still happy. Poor thing.

Thursday Sickies

As if a busy week couldn't get any busier... Mckenna's runny nose and low grade fever morphed into a pretty good cough by Thursday morning. I was automatically fearful of another ear infection, so off we went after work to the doctor.

Mckenna weighed in at 16lbs. 9oz. at her appointment. We will see if she maintains this weight gain now that she is crawling, however this is the most she has gained in 1 month since the gain from birth to 1 month. We will see!!

Anyways, her ear was pretty red, but not yet infected... however they did give us a little dose of Zithromiacin to hopefully prevent it from getting worse. Despite sleeping icky due to the coughing, she does seem to be on the mend a bit.

When we got home we got to do more crawling!!

Our medicine must have had some craziness mixed in with it because Thursday night Mckenna had NO interest in going to bed AT ALL! She NEVER does this!! She was crazy!! As if starting to crawl this week wasn't enough, she decided that she wanted to try to start pulling herself up on the ottoman! Too bad she was in a sleep sack and kept slipping!!
