Girly Bedrooms

There is nothing more fun (to me) than getting to design and create fun spaces for my kids!
I am luck enough to have been able to create 3 different spaces for my kids... so far!
Today I thought I would feature Mckenna and Norah's rooms... I really love them!
Yes, I realize I am biased! Ha!

First up is Norah's Room!
When I was pregnant with her I had envisioned a room that was soft and light. A direct opposite of Mckenna's bright and vibrant room. Here is her room:

Light Purple, Soft Grey and White
I made the mobile hanging in the corner/center of the room.
I will be posting a little "how to" about that in the coming weeks!

Her room is pretty big, so I was able to add the side table with lamp. I didn't have these pieces in Mckenna's nursery. The rest of the furniture was from Mckenna's nursery.
I love featuring their newborn pictures above the change table/dresser. Reminds me daily of how tiny and peaceful they were!
I made the bow holder above the bookshelf, as well. Super easy project... coming soon!

Here is Mckenna's bright and vibrant toddler room. She loves this room!
I had a HARD time finding bedding that was appropriate for her age that was Queen sized...
who knew?!
This ruffle set came from Target... I stumbled upon it on Black Friday 2011 in a sleepy fog around 5am!  Its a "teen" set but I thought it was fun!

I had bought the curtains before the bedding... what a silly thing to do! Oh Well!
I wish we could afford custom built ins for her around that window!

I just LOVE here dresser! Its HUGE!!!
This fun frame above her dresser is a wood design from Michaels that I painted. The photo is very creatively mounted in it, as these are pieces that can be created into anything.... its the same piece above in Norah's room as a bow holder!

And just because I randomly have a picture on my computer... this was the original nursery we had for Mckenna in our first house! Sniff sniff! It seems like that was soooo long ago!
We didn't know her gender, so this was our neutral room! It took FOREVER to pain those stripes!

Couple weeks after Mckenna's arrival!

Norah's Nursery

Norah's nursery is finally done!!

Wahoo!

Here is the link to my first post on Norah's nursery.
I have finally added the finishing touches!

Welcome to the room!

View of the whole room as you enter...

View straight on of the crib with her name added!

I chose to do a name vinyl for above her crib
I had it picked out a couple of days before she was born and was able to order it right away...
I love how easy Etsy is! Then 5 easy minutes to hang it and it was done!

Above the rocker I changed out one of the frames and added her birth announcement to it!
I have also added a couple of pictures framed throughout the room!

I added the prints above her dresser/changing table!
We had the Bella Baby pictures printed and ordered right away, as well!
I love how easy things are!

And the little princess herself! Snoozing as Mommy added the finishing touches to her room!
We love you Norah!

2 Weeks Postpartum

2 weeks Postpartum

I wanted to do another post for myself to update/remind myself about the second week and how it went.
This is probably boring to anyone else, but I will forget (soon)!

Total Weight Gain during pregnancy: 33lbs.

Total Weight Lost at 2 weeks Postpartum -  24lbs.

Maternity Clothes? Yep, still wearing them. I hate that all my regular shirts feel too short!

Sleep: Sleep is going well!! Norah has bee following the same routine from last week. She goes to bed with us around 10:30. She usually wakes around 2:30 or 3am for a feeding and then wakes again around 5:30 or 6am for a feeding and we get up!

Nursing: Norah has continued nursing well. She takes both bottle and breast thru the day depending upon what we have going on.  She eats about every 2 1/2 hours, though first thing in the morning she seems to need to eat hourly to make up for her longer stretches at night.

Best moment of the week: Mckenna getting so excited every time Norah's eyes are open!! She makes you come over to see, too!

This has been another good week! Jim and I are doing a lot of tag teaming and each have one of them to make it easier to get things done!!

1 week Postpartum

1 week Postpartum

I wanted to do a post for myself to update/remind myself about the first week and how it went.
This is probably boring to anyone else, but I will forget (soon)!

Total Weight Gain during pregnancy: 33lbs. give or take - I didn't weight myself in the last few days because I had the flu!

Total Weight Lost at 1 week Postpartum -  18lbs. - What a diet!
Maternity Clothes? Yep, still wearing them. Probably will through most of the summer!!

Sleep: Sleep is going well!! Norah goes to bed with us around 10:30. She usually wakes around 2:30 or 3am for a feeding and then wakes again around 5:30 or 6am for a feeding and we get up! I can't complain because I know it won't last too long!!

Nursing: Norah has been nursing well. It took a couple of days (4-5) for my milk to come in, so we had to supplement on Thursday night and most of Friday in order for our little monkey to get more to eat! Things are going well now and I am able to nurse and pump, so she has been taking both bottles and breast! She is also loving her pacifier, so she is pretty content with all forms of nipples! Norah is able to nurse without the nipple shield that I had to use with Mckenna, so I am exited that makes things a little more flexible and easy for us... hopefully this continues!

Best moment of the week: Each morning Mckenna comes downstairs and the first thing she does is look for Norah and come say good morning to her! I love it. She usually wants to hold her first thing too! So sweet!!

This has been a good week! I have had minimal pain, though it does increase throughout the day as I am doing more and lifting a 30lb. toddler who needs to be held :) We have been out running errands, have gone to the park and have been out playing. Anything to keep life as normal as possible for Mckenna!!

The Night Before...

We found out around 12:30pm on Monday that we would be meeting our new bundle of joy the next day! Quite a surprise! We spent our evening enjoying a little time with our spunky toddler before (sniff, sniff) she wasn't our "baby" anymore.

We have had a peony bush that we have been waiting to bloom... they finally did!
Mckenna took a little time to smell the peonies!

I had been wanting to get a few pictures of Mckenna and I together, but due to having the flu on Sunday, we never got the chance to do our little photo shoot. We improvised on Monday evening!

We love this crazy little girl so much!!

39 Weeks

39 Weeks

How far along: 39 weeks

Total Weight Gain: 30lbs.

Size of Baby:  about 20 inches and 6 1/2-7lbs. We shall see how big she really is when she arrives!!

Maternity Clothes? Yep

Sleep: Sleep is about the same as always.... Could always use more!

Movement: She has been doing good with moving around a lot, despite the fact that she is running out of room in there!

Gender: GIRL

What I miss? I think I have forgotten about everything I have been living without... oh wait, there's sleep, being able to shave my legs, drinking Sonic Diet Vanilla Cokes whenever I want, drinking the Blue Moon sitting in our kegerator.. that's probably it!

Best moment of the week: Hearing that Mckenna has a name for Baby Sister... that isn't "Baby Sister"  and ending work (today!)

Looking forward to: Well, I am most looking forward to meeting her... but I would settle for knowing that all of these contractions are at least getting us progressing in the right way!

The Latest

I finally downloaded some of the pictures which have been accumulating on my phone.... here is a sneak peak into what we have been up to for the last several weeks!

We have mastered the silly, cheesy, squinty eye grin!

Mom look at me....

A Sunday morning of being "the queen"... Bippity Boppity Boo!

I'm going to turn you into a.... frog

She loves to be the queen!

One of her favorite things to do at ballet is dress up... this is "her" dress. She calls it her Ariel dress and will only dress up in this dress.

Last weekend we put up the baby gear for baby sisters upcoming arrival...
Mckenna helped me clean it all so it was ready to go!

She also helped give the swing a few test rides with her babies

For Easter Uncle Bill and Auntie Michelle gave Mckenna a "little computer"
She loves it and does pretty well navigating all of the activities herself

We had a Pinkalicious birthday party for Maggie Sue two weeks ago...
Here we are all PINK and ready to go!

Eating yummy cake pops with Maggie Sue

Last week we had Mckenna's physical appointment for her pre-school physical... enjoying some time on the computer while she waits for the Dr.

Becoming more independent before our night out on Friday night...

Saying cheese with Daddy at Red Robin

Singing head, shoulders, knees and toes before ballet on Saturday

On Saturday the Collins Crew headed over for a night of hanging out together.
Mckenna was asking all day when her friends were coming over... she LOVES Alex and Emma!

Although it was a bit chilly, we tried to have a fire and play outside for a little while

While Alex and Emma got on their jammies, Mckenna set up a little movie theater for them all.
I thought it was so cute... she had a seat for each of them!

The last week or so Mckenna has not wanted to get dressed in the morning... it can be a good ol' battle! Well, yesterday I had two outfits for her to pick from... then she spotted her Belle shirt in a basket of clean laundry. Of course the bottoms of the other two outfits didn't match, so we headed upstairs to find some other shorts. Then she needed her Belle socks to "match" her shirt.... and then found her favorite red shoes... oh goodness!

Laying on the couch "reading" her Lightening McQueen book while I put laundry away. She loves her books that have the "remotes" because she can read them all by herself!

Yes, we've been busy!!
