Wear it

So this week over on the Dog Days of Winter link up they are featuring a "Wear It" link up. I was TOTALLY going to pass on this weeks post, but in stepping out of my comfort zone, I decided to just go for it! Eek. By NO means do I consider myself fashionable or do I usually even care what I am wearing!

Last Sunday I pulled this outfit together for church. I was pretty impressed with it, as the dress is a summer dress and I mixed things around to layer it up.

I had pinned the following couple of outfits over the last few weeks and feel I sort of got a mix of them with this outfit.

green dress brown boots stripe dress. so cute.  "Casual Day" by susan-goben-fabian on Polyvore

So in my picture I am wearing
Dress: Ann Taylor Loft
Leggings: Target

White Shirt: JC Penney - Not sure of brand

Canvas Prints

I have fallen in love with newest trend of photo canvases! I love the look... but the price tag can be a bit much! Ahhh but then there is Pinterest... a girls best friend!

There are countless tutorials all over Pinterest on how to make your own photo canvases. I took the approach I do with most projects: I read a few of the different tutorials and combined what I learned from reading them, shopped my home for what I already have and gave it a shot!
I couldn't be happier with the results!!

I am not the best at remembering to take pictures along the way... so I will talk you through the steps and show you the finished product.
They are SO easy to make!

Materials

1. Choose the size canvas you want to use - I prefer stretched canvas (they have the raised edge)
2. Have a your picture printed in the SAME size as the canvas
ie. 8x10 canvas, 8x10 picture
3. MATTE Modge Podge
4. 2 Foam Brushes - I prefer a smaller one for painting the edges and the larger one for spreading the Modge Podge
5. Craft Paint in your choice of color (I recommend something that "goes" with your picture)

DIRECTIONS
1. Paint the edges of your canvas - let dry. You may need 2-3 coats

2. Trim the picture so that it will lay flat on top of your canvas.
It should need to just be trimmed a tiny bit!
3. Spread a layer of Modge Podge on the canvas.
4. Position your picture on top of the canvas. Move it around so it's in the position you want and then smooth it down so it is stuck in position. Let set a couple of minutes.
5. Spread a layer of Modge Podge over the canvas. You don't want a puddle, but you want a good coating of the glue on your picture. (Don't freak. Your picture isn't ruined! It will dry clear!)
6. Let dry! About 30 minutes! You want to see a clear finish on top; if you still see white, it isn't dry!

7. Make sure the picture is secure. Check the corners. You may need to do some touch ups!
8. Check edges to make sure no white canvas is poking through... touch up paint if necessary!

VOILA!!
Beautiful!!!

I have made a couple of these... okay like 6! They are that easy!
For Christmas I got these picture ledges for our Family Room.
Guess what I put on them?!

Still messing around with the arrangement a bit, but this is what they looked like yesterday!

Close up!

This green is the actual color of our Family Room...
the above pictures were from my Iphone! Our walls are not that icky grey/green!

Thanks for visiting!!!
