A couple of weeks back Jim ran his second half marathon. Yes, 13.1 miles... and yes he's crazy!
The run was downtown on a Sunday morning and it began at 6:30am. Yikes!
Jim stayed downtown the night before with friends so they didn't have to commute at 4am!
That left the girls and I at home. I had planned to head down to watch, but wasn't sure how it would exactly work out with needing to be down so early. I had hoped to see Jim at the Mile 7 marker and then walk to the finish line.
Well my girls must of sensed my worries of the timing of the events because they woke up at 4:45am (Norah) and 5:10am (Mckenna). Yes, for the day. I was planning to leave the house at 6:15am... instead we left at 5:45am. Seriously! Way to early!!! Starbucks was our first stop!!
We got to our spot and waited. And waited. And waited. Kids and races = LOTS of down time!
So...we had a mini photo shoot! We were slap happy crazy... and it was around 7am!
The runners are starting to appear on Michigan Avenue!
There was a lovely empty flower planter next to us... which made for optimum digging!
And a bike rack which made for great swinging and climbing!
This sweet thing loved cheering!
Watching the runners run by!
I love these next few of Norah. Just love em!!!
Finally Daddy and Jon made their way into our view!
Somebody stopped for a sweet little kiss!!!
After they kept on running and we had our near collision experience in having to run across the race course with a double stroller and two kids...
We made it into Grant Park to do some site seeing while we waited some more!
Let's highlight the personalities of my daughters....
Practicing her running...
The finish line...
Fading quickly... at 8:30am!!
And we are done! New record of double naps at 8:30am!
There he is!!
Aunt Alice had come down to watch too!
Friends he ran with!
Two hours later... she woke up!
Daddy's girl!!
