Informance Day

On Friday Mckenna had a Spring Music Informance....

My pretty little girls all ready to go!

There are 3 morning kindergarten classes.... each class had a circle of chairs for parents to sit in.
The kids were in the middle of the circle.

There she is!

They sang a couple of songs and used instruments they had practiced in class.

Then there was a song that they did a little dance with.

Mckenna and Anna were partners....

For the last two songs they came in front of their family and sang them.

Sweet girl

Of course she wanted pictures with some of her friends....
Hayam and Mckenna

Mckenna and Savannah

Anna and Mckenna

Sofia and Mckenna

Mckenna and her teacher, Mrs. Fitzgerald

And with her partner in crime... Payton!

This picture makes me smile on so many levels.
Norah wanted to go join the kindergarten class.
She was suddenly the center of attention of 9 little girls!

Saying good-bye to her little sister.... they were going to be apart for a WHOLE 45 more minutes!

Such a sweet little morning at Butler!

Art Night

Last Monday night Butler hosted its Annual Art Night!
The school does not have a formal art program with an art teacher... rather they have an art program run by the parents. The culmination of the art program is Art Night!

Over the last two weeks we had been volunteering up at the school in putting together the art wall for Mckenna's class. After a million emails exchanged between a few of us mom's collaborating on the elements of the wall, along with countless hours spent actually hanging the backdrops and art projects, we were all set for Art Night.
The school theme was eARTh.... each grade level had a continent assigned to them and then the parents claimed stake to how they would theme it for their class. Since Mckenna's grade level has 3 teachers (but 6 sections because of half day) we had North America and then Mrs. Fitzgerald's class had The United States!

All excited and ready to go!

Because pictures of Mommy are important too!

Not sure why the belly had to be a part of the pic?!

We got to a passport when we entered the building and were set to explore the different continents!
Up first.... we chose North America!

We had a HUGE American Flag designed on one half of the hallway.
We had different states hanging from the ceiling with the kids pictures in each of the states!

The other side of the hallway featured the Statue of Liberty (Mrs. Fitzgerald style)!

Our Cave Art section

One time per month a different artist is featured in the classroom. A parent presents the lesson, along with history and information on the artist. The kids then create a project based upon that artist.

The main hallway featured designs based upon the theme of eARTh.
Each grade level was assigned a letter. Kindergarten was H.

There was a whole wall of "h's"... they had been sent home and decorated by each individual student.
Here's Mckenna's "h"!

One element was cutting out pictures of travel destinations on eARTh and hanging them on a collage wall!

Checking in and getting our passport stamped!

Mckenna LOVED running into kids all over the school while we journeyed throughout the building!
The had different art/drawings the kids could create at stations in the gym... along with snacks in the cafeteria.
It was such a fun night!!
