Laundry Room: Making Progress

Our laundry room project continues....

Here is a view from after day 2.
I have since emptied the closet and we have removed the closet doors. The current closet will become a laundry table/organization and storage.

This is the other half of the room. This is the workout room. It will stay this, but be transformed a bit.

My girls are LOVING watching Papa work.
This is how they spend just about every minute that he is here working!

Trying to be helpers!

Once that "little hole" was cut in the wall, we realized that none of the proper plumbing, electrical or just about anything was there that needed to be; or should have been.
So... we have had to add it all. Cold water. Hot water. Gas line. Dryer vent. Electrical. Yep. All of it. Nothings easy.

Laundry Remodel: Day 1

Today marked day 1 of our laundry room make over project.

Mckenna and Norah eagerly learned how to work stud finders!

This new toy was a hit!

The "hole" my Papa came to cut kept growing....

And growing....

Oh boy! Not sure I would call it a "hole" anymore!!

I will deal with this "hole" if it means no more basement laundry!!!

Closet Toy Storage

Meet my little girl.
She is in a "I'm going to destroy everything" phase.
It's a phase, right?!

Back in the fall we created this fun little Art/Game/Play area for Mckenna.
You can read more about this fun area HERE

This play area worked GREAT until about a month ago...
Destroyer became mobile!!

She can now open the drawers, pull the games off the shelves and eats the pieces to EVERY toy on them. I am going crazy cleaning up construction paper, puzzles pieces and Legos 100 times per day!
Something had to change!

So, as you can see, we needed a solution that helped our 3 year old still have access to the toys she plays with and keeps our 11 month old's little sticky fingers off of them!

Enter the front hall closet.
We have a pretty good sized hall closet that is used for lots of storage... not really too many coats!
Well, coats when guests come over, but our coats are back in the coat area in the den where we enter/exit through the garage (see HERE thought that's an old picture)

So I began to empty the closet and find new homes for its contents.
I didn't take an initial picture...but here is what you can see.

BEFORE

Yes golf clubs... no the baby isn't kept in the closet.
(she's just into all of the new "toys")

Hmm...

AFTER

I moved the bookshelf into the closet. It houses the fun board games, Melissa and Doug food toys, a basket of wooden dress up dolls, and a bin of Duplo Legos.
Sitting on top is a Rice Box, a Cake Mix Box and a few random items that are better
served higher up!

On the right side is a Rubbermaid drawer set which houses construction paper, coloring books, puzzles and play-doh..
Hanging on the coat hangers are the different holiday decor pieces for my front door. I need to get some new 3M hooks for the wall on the right. The wall runs at an angle so

Back to the right behind the Rubbermaid bin are a couple of folding chairs. I moved the rest to the basement, along with table leaves and runner rugs we are not using right now.

Coats got moved up to my Master Closet (it's big).
Golf clubs back to the garage... the Vacuum is still homeless!
But I figure it can go in here or in the Den.

This is our solution for now. Who needs a hall closet in the summer?! And hopefully if we want it back come October/November Norah will no longer be destroying!

I decided late day to do this project, so bear with my "great" iPhone pictures of the project.
It needed to get done ASAP and my camera was charging.

Playroom Make-Over/Update

It's been over 6 months since I did an update on our playroom and with Christmas just ending and my crazy self finding some projects to do in the room, now's as good of time as any for an update!

So HERE is where we were with my last update... awaiting color, decor, anything to bring the room to life!

HERE is where we are as of today!
We have added color, decor, and MORE toys!

This is the view from the top of the stairs....
Alphabet Letter Bunting was an easy printable homemade project
The letter rug came from Target
Curtains are from JC Penney (after trying out about 12 different pairs!)

View from Master Bedroom door

View from in front of couch and windows

View from top of stairs... the door is the Master bedroom door
The two white cube organizers were added just this week after Christmas.

The green bins house all things play food & kitchen - food, dishes, pots and pans, etc.
The pink & blue bins on the left are for toys and puzzles

Dress up corner & looking down the hallway.

The blue and green circles on the wall are magnetic boards that we use for magnetic letters.... a fun little project of painting pizza pans and securing to the wall with THESE! They are amazing!

Another view of the magnetic boards, along with our newest gallery wall hanging in the nook!
Mckenna's door is the on right and baby sister's door is on the far left... another fun project in the works!

Thanks for checking out our updates! I feel like the playroom is always going to be changing to accommodate our growing toy collection and my need to "organize" it all!
